Home town votes...

Posted Wed, 05 Nov 2008

Just wanted to post some stats I put together for voting in my home town - Potsdam, NY... more generally, St. Lawrence County.

The 2000 census puts St. Lawrence County a population of 111,931 people. Of those, 23.40% are under the age of 18, making for 85,740 potential voters.

Of those, 38,117 showed up to vote - 44.46% of the population. Not too shabby!

21,642 voted for Obama (56.78%), 15,972 for McCain (41.90%).

Just for reference, then, your 1 vote accounted for 0.0026% of the county's collective voice.
