Computer Science Salaries down 2%

Posted Mon, 13 Feb 2006

CNN Money today posted the results of their survey on the the most lucrative jobs. Computer Science starting-salaries are down 2% last year to about $50K. Having been employed for a number of years now in the industry, I've conducted several dozen interviews and I've found that there's pretty slim pickings on the market... is the downward slope of starting salaries driving people away from the industry? (I don't know for sure, but it seems to me that they were down last year from 04 also, and then from 03. I haven't seen decent starting salaries since '02 when I first hit the job market after college.)
